Hey Guys,

How's it going? My Name is Sebastian Mendoza. I am very into Video games, but also into writing, a

book at the moment is being created, so I am very excited to continue my work. I have no siblings and I

am an only child, however, I have a large group of family members that I always stay in contact with. I

am also a 3rd year at this current time at school, looking to challenge myself everyday with new goals in

my mind. Furthermore, I feel as through social media, we have a worser sense of direction within

everyday life because of how consuming it really is. We take everything for granted when it comes to

socialization, but really, in a class setting it is very productive for teaching more effectively when it comes

to lesson planning, video presentations and more engagement with your audience. Zoom or Kahoot are

also used to further develop a classrooms overall setting and assisting with people who possibly can not

attend to classes, such as the features that we use un Hybrid classes in college. In closing, I try to do a lot

of cardio for my workouts, it's very relaxing and energetic after a long day of school. Sometimes I may be

playing POGO, so you may see me around, if so, don't be shy to say whats up. I hope that I can get to

know you all further as the months progress in the classroom, I thank you all for reading this message and

I hope you have a great day.

  2. Nice to meet you Sebastian! Your take on technology is interesting. When writing my blog I didn’t even think about Kahoot or games that made lessons fun. While I do like the use of Kahoot in a classroom because it keeps students engaged on certain lessons, I believe the use of technology in classrooms has grown significantly. Since most students are given a Chromebook, their attention span has shortened and the ability to access the internet at any given moment in the classroom has led many students to go off task. I also believe that the overuse of technology has caused many students to become antisocial. When I was in elementary school I remember wanting to play on the playground with my friends but when I became an after-school coach I noticed that most students preferred staying indoors and playing games on their computer or phone. Even though most of my response sounds like I dislike technology, I do believe it has its benefits. Technology allows us to stay up to date with current events and gives us a way to communicate. I don’t think technology is bad if the time students spend on it is limited.

  3. Hi Sebastian! I’d love to hear about the book you’re writing! I have had a few ideas for novels before, but I always seem to turn them into character and plot concepts for games instead. I find your take on Zoom options for attendance interesting. It is certainly more convenient to use Zoom instead of taking the time to look presentable, go to school, and be still and attentive for so long. I always preferred going in person, as I find myself losing focus and a sense of accountability when I take online and Zoom classes. I think this actually illustrates perfectly the issues with media technology in education: technology’s constant pull on attention spans pitted against the wonders it can enable. You mentioned Kahoot, which I think is one of the best examples of how technology aids in the classroom, and exploring avenues and applications like that are what we should focus on.
